  • DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STUDY, LEARNING & TRAINING CENTRES ?

    Study Centre
A study centre is a building established by Batchelor Institute. These facilities are fully equipped by Batchelor Institute with items i.e. computers, phone, fax, printer as well as various white goods.

To have study centres built in the community, negotiation over land use needs to be carried out in close consultation between the local Traditional Owners of the area, with the appropriate Land Council anthropologist and lawyer and the Batchelor Institute Facilities Manager, before any development can occur.

    Learning Centre
A learning centre is a small room which has been leased by Batchelor Institute or by another registered training organisation-which is already established in the community or town and is used as a study space for students.

These centres are normally equipped similarly to study/training centres. Agreements to lease these facilities in the community or town are normally carried out by the Facilities Manager- Batchelor Institute in close consultation with the appropriate Manager of the facility.

In some situations DBE have smaller facilities located in the communities.

    Training Centre
A training centre is similar to that of a large study centre, they are fully equipped with computers, a phone, a fax, printers, TVNideo equipment, data projectors, overhead projectors, electronic whiteboards and other white goods.

These facilities in most cases are established and managed by Department of Business and Employment (DBE) staff located in the specified community and/or town training centres.

In most cases Batchelor Institute leases Training Centre space including office space through DBE under an agreement. These agreements are normally negotiated by the Batchelor Institute Facilities Manager in close consultation with the specific DBE Training Centre Manager.
