Winner Industry Collaboration Award
Batchelor Institute is excited to announce that, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, we have won the Industry Collaboration Award at the Northern Territory Training Awards.
This imaginative collaboration is making a career as a soldier more attractive for Aboriginal people. Students are immersed in a shared culture of learning, while developing foundation skills and absorbing the beliefs, attitudes and practices in the Army as part of the Regional Education and Development course.
Winner Vocational Student of The Year
Huge congratulations to Darren Braun, on winning the Vocational Student of the Year.
Darren Braun is a Katherine-born trained dancer/performing artist but chose to work in Aboriginal health because he wants to help “my mob” navigate a culturally safe passage to quality health services. Darren, a proud Ngalakan Kayetye Arrernte man, completed a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) (HLT40213) with us while employed as a trainee Aboriginal health practitioner with Danila Dilba.
Runners Up Industry Collaboration
Congratulations to our lecture Denise Paarman on your Collaboration with Palmerston Children and Family Centre and Batchelor Institute coming runners up in the Industry Collaboration category.
The Young Mothers are Strong Mothers program at the Palmerston Child and Family Centre was created to help break the cycle of disadvantage by providing strong health and educational support. Led by the Department of Education, the program is a collaboration between Child Australia, the Department of Health and Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.

We would also like to congratulate Rufaro Nyamusara on being a finalist in the Vocational Teacher/Trainer Award category.
