Since 2012, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, in partnership with Charles Darwin University (CDU), has offered the following courses in Applied Social Science: Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledges (YATSI1); Bachelor of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocacy (BATSIA); Associate Degree of Applied Social Science (XASSO1), Bachelor of Applied Social Science (WASSO1).
From Semester 1, 2020, as part of CDU’s course restructure, they will be replaced by the following new courses:
Bachelor of Arts (WARTS2)
Diploma of Arts (YARTS1)
Both the Bachelor of Arts and the Diploma of Arts will offer the same Applied Social Science subjects as the ones previously included in the Bachelor of Applied Social Science courses above. New students who are interested in Applied Social Science will need to enrol in either the Bachelor of Arts (WARTS2) or the Diploma of Arts (YARTS1) with specialisation in Indigenous Governance Policy or Contemporary Indigenous Australia. Students who are currently enrolled in the Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledges (YATSI1); Bachelor of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocacy (BATSIA); Associate Degree of Applied Social Science (XASSO1); Bachelor of Applied Social Science (WASSO1) will not be affected by the changes in question and will be able to continue their studies until their completion.
