Skills for Education and Employment Program (SEE)

The Australian Government's Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program offers free training in reading, writing, English language, maths and digital skills.

The SEE Program provides training to help individuals improve their language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) skills, enabling them to undertake further training and actively participate in the economy and in society.

SEE training is tailored to your abilities and goals and is delivered flexibly, grounded in Batchelor Institute's "Both Ways" philosophy that blends Indigenous knowledges with Western education.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Program Overview

The SEE Program offers free training to eligible participants in reading, writing, and numeracy, as well as lessons to improve spoken language and employability skills.

Participating in a SEE Program can help you in many ways including:

  • Improving your reading, writing, numeracy, and digital skills for further study.
  • Strengthening your speaking and listening abilities.
  • Learning digital literacy skills for the workplace.
  • Understanding job advertisements and apply for jobs.
  • Developing job interview skills.
  • Building confidence through work experience placements.

The course is delivered by qualified trainers who will support you every step of the way. Learning is flexible and is designed to meet your needs, with options for in-person sessions at our campuses and learning centres.

Am I eligible?

Australians aged 15 years and over who have left school and need help with their language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) skills are eligible to apply for the SEE Program.

To be eligible for SEE, you need to be either:

  • An Australian citizen, or
  • A permanent visa holder, or
  • On a provisional or temporary visa with working rights and eligible for the Adult Migrant English Program, or
  • A Pacific Australia Labour Mobility visa holder.

Your Journey Through the SEE Program

Your journey with us through the SEE Program is a clear, supported path designed to help you achieve your goals. You can see the step-by-step process in our SEE Journey chart.

It all starts with getting in touch, either through a referral from your Employment Services Provider or by contacting us directly. From your first assessment, we work with you to create a customised training plan that respects your skills and ambitions.

Throughout your training, optional work experience, and right up to your final completion assessment, you will be guided by our dedicated trainers and your personal Participant Support Officer (PSO). This step-by-step process ensures you always know what to expect and have the support you need to succeed.
