Student Admin Staff

Sesle Pastore - Manager, Student Administration I was seconded to Batchelor Institute in April 2010, and was soon given the opportunity to stay. Prior to that I had been working at Charles Darwin University (CDU), spanning over 7 years, in the VET sector in multiple positions but always to do with the processing and functionalities of VET Administration. Batchelor Institute has given me a unique experience to be able to take on projects and tasks which would normally be administered by multiple areas in a bigger university or institution, rather than to a limited group of people. I have been very lucky to be able to bring my skills within a student management system, from CDU to the Institute, to be able to expand on and share that knowledge across the many areas of VET. I believe Batchelor Institute encourages, creates and gives opportunities to not only staff but students, allowing for them to expand on; and share knowledge, from all different parts of the Territory and Australia.

Kathleen Ketchell - Coordinator Student Progression I live in Batchelor and I have previously worked at BIITE from 2005 in the facilities team then had the opportunity to work with Admissions Enrolment Graduation unit (AEGU) from 2006 to 2010. I left BIITE for personal reasons in 2010 and then enrolled in the Certificate II in Business and graduated in 2011. I then returned to work with Student Support as the Enquiries Officer in 2013 and then gained a position in Student Operations in 2014. Since then there has been a lot of changes throughout the Institute. I have immensely enjoyed working in Student Progression as it is very challenging, whilst working with our Academic staff and students and have come to appreciate and respect what our students have achieved through study at Batchelor Institute with great admiration.

Tina Howard - Coordinator Student Fees & Offshore Originally from Broome in Western Australia, I moved to Batchelor 15 years ago and have worked at Batchelor Institute for 11 years in the area of Student Services, as a Student Operations Officer. My employment career has been in Indigenous education, being employed in various roles within Schools, Catholic Education Office and Notre Dame University in Broome. I believe education is a key to providing greater opportunities for Indigenous people in employment, health and wellbeing. I see Batchelor Institute as a place that can provide that opportunity, for students to gain knowledge and life skills, to empower themselves. I enjoy working at Batchelor Institute, the students and staff make it what it is – A unique place of Indigenous knowledge and learning.

Sharon Pilkington - Coordinator Qualifications & Graduations I have been employed at Batchelor Institute for over 5 years in various positions. Prior to commencing at BIITE I worked at CDU/NTU for over 17 years. I have worked within the faculties as well as Student Administration in the following areas: Student Enquiries, Admission, Examinations and Graduation and Enrolments in both sectors – VET & HE. Whilst working for CDU, I also became an active member of the Working Woman’s Committee for the National Tertiary Education Union and also participated in the Indigenous forum with (NTEU) which is held in Melbourne once a year. Whilst working at BIITE I have come to meet some wonderful staff and students. My current role at Batchelor Institute at present is the Coordinator, Qualifications & Graduations. This encompasses all issuances of certification and Graduation ceremonies for the Institute at the two main campuses - Batchelor, Alice Springs including Community graduations. I believe that our Indigenous graduates are going to make a big impact across all aspects of Australian society in the future.
