Acknowledgement of country

Batchelor Institute would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sovereign people of the lands on which our campuses are located. As we share our knowledge, teaching and learning and engage in research practices within this Institution and/or conduct business with a variety of external agencies and organisations, we must always pay respect to the sovereign status of our hosts. May their Ancestors always be remembered and honoured, their Elders listened to and respected, all members treated with dignity and fairness — in the present and well into the future.

We also acknowledge and pay respect to the knowledge embedded forever with our hosts, custodianship of country and the binding relationship they have with the land. Batchelor Institute extends this acknowledgment and expression of respect to all sovereign custodians — past, present and emerging. By expressing Acknowledgement of Country we encourage all to extend and practice respect to all First Nations people wherever their lands are located.

Announcement! Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Launch
3 minute read

We have two exciting announcements!

Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Program

The first announcement is our Proud Past Learners (Alumni) program.

Alumni (A-lum-n-i) is the word used in education institutes such as universities and colleges, including Batchelor Institute, to describe students

that have successfully graduated from their courses.

This program is currently being developed, and we will soon be looking for all Batchelor Institute’s proud past learners to join.

Our Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Program is a way for the Institute to stay connected with students after they graduate. It allows former graduates to remain involved through updates, events, networking opportunities, supporting current students and will strengthen our connections to community.

Proud Past Learners Artwork Competition

Our second announcement is that we are excited to announce our Proud Past Learners (Alumni) program artwork competition.

All students, past and present are invited to enter.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your creativity and contribute to the visual identity of our Proud Past Learners (Alumni) program.

We are seeking original artwork that reflects connection, growth, community, and the journey from student to graduate (alumni). The selected

artwork will be featured as the logo for part of the Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Program and the winning student will be formally acknowledged for their contribution.

Submission Guidelines

• Artwork must be original and created by the student.

• Artwork must include a short description/story explaining the design or art piece and its meaning.

• Submit a photo of your Artwork and its description/story to dceo@batchelor.edu.au by the 17 April 2026.

• Winner will be awarded $350 on the completion of required paperwork to enable payment.

• Payment may take up to 14 days.

Please note the selected artwork will become the property of Batchelor Institute and with the right to use the artwork to promote the Institute

alumni program along with artist copyright acknowledgement.

Submission Timelines

• Competition opens 09 March 2026

• Competition closes 17 April 2026

• Winner announced 24 April 2026

• Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Program Launch 02 June 2026 (Batchelor Campus Graduation)

We encourage all students to take part in this exciting initiative and leave a lasting creative mark on our Proud Past Learners (Alumni) Program.
