
Val Dyer is a director and shareholder of family company APN Pty Ltd which has for 50 years leased and managed Hayfield and Shenandoah Stations, situated between Daly Waters and Elliott in the Northern Territory. These stations carry a herd of 20,000 high quality commercial brahman cattle.
Val was originally a teacher and was at one time Acting Deputy Principal of the Katherine Area School. She later completed an honors degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of New England.
Val has a long, continuous and active involvement in the northern cattle industry and related community organisations, notably 11 years as an executive member of the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association. She received the inaugural NT Rural Woman of the year award in 1994.
Home schooling her two sons and daughter over 16 years with The Katherine School of The Air resulted in a long association with remote education and the Isolated Children and Parents Association.
Her primary interests are in Agribusiness Management, Remote Education, corporate governance and being involved in the vision for the development of the Northern Territory and its people.
